Plastic thermoforming process can be defined as the process of taking a sheet of material that is made from plastic then heating it up until it get to a point that it is pliable and changing its shape to form a three dimensional object, this process is then finished up by trimming to make it become a usable product. This will involve a very long process that must be undertaken in order for it to be called a success. The following are these steps involved in plastic thermoforming.

The fist stage is the designing of the material. This is what will kick start the plastic thermoforming process. This is because they are usually used for larger production of plastic material. At this particular point in time the plastic thermoforming goes through the most demanding process of all. First of all it goes through the tooling process. This will involve the process of creating the mold that the plastic material is to be heated on. This is the process referred to as tooling. In plastic thermoforming, aluminum molds are the ones that are usually used but other materials can also be used in making molds depending on the size and what is needed. With a mold at hand then the plastic thermoforming can now begin. This will involve the heating of the plastic material to a pliable temperature. Once this process is done then the mol can now be cooled off then removed to give us the plastic material wanted with the desired shape and size. To make sure that there is zero residual stress, the cooling process should be done under ambient temperatures.

Trimmimg is what remains with the final product at hand. It is the very last process that involves the very last touches. You will be trimming some parts of the product to help with removing the unwanted parts. This is a process that can be done by robots or even by hand. This will depend with the size and number of objects that are supposed to be trimmed. After this then the plastic material will be having the desired shape that it should have. After this then secondary operations such as painting and packaging might come in if it is necessary.
